Terms of Service

Effective date: July 22, 2026 · Last updated: July 22, 2026

These Terms govern your use of the TabTar website, desktop App, Browser Connector, downloads, purchase, activation, updates, and related support services.

By downloading, purchasing, activating, or using TabTar, you agree to these Terms. If you use TabTar for an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it.

1. The Service

TabTar is a local-first utility for capturing, organizing, and searching browser Contexts and textual Clipboard history. It includes optional integration with an OpenAI-compatible model endpoint configured by you.

Features, supported browsers, operating systems, integrations, and availability may change over time. Windows availability displayed as “Coming soon” is not a promise of a release date.

2. Trial access

A new, unactivated installation receives seven days of Create Context access beginning from the first-launch timestamp stored on that device.

After the trial expires, Create Context is unavailable until activation. Search remains available, while other non-creation features follow the current product behavior.

You must not reset, manipulate, or bypass trial or activation controls.

3. Purchase and license

TabTar currently offers a one-time license through the payment options and prices displayed at checkout. The license is bound to the email address entered during purchase.

After payment is confirmed, TabTar issues an activation code by email. You are responsible for entering the correct email address and keeping access to that mailbox. Eligible purchasers may request another copy of an existing activation code through the App.

A valid purchase grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use TabTar for your personal or internal business purposes, subject to these Terms. You may not sell, sublicense, share publicly, or commercially redistribute an activation code.

A “lifetime” or “one-time” license means that no recurring subscription fee is charged for the purchased entitlement. It does not guarantee that every online service, integration, operating system, update, or support channel will remain available indefinitely.

4. Payments, taxes, refunds, and disputes

Card payments are processed by Creem. WeChat Pay is provided through ZPay and its connected payment channel. Payment-provider terms, identity checks, availability, exchange rates, and payment rules may also apply.

The current checkout offers a USD $5 one-time card license and a CNY ¥10 one-time WeChat Pay license. Prices may change for future purchases, but the amount presented at checkout controls your transaction.

You authorize the selected provider to charge the amount shown at checkout. You are responsible for applicable taxes, bank fees, currency-conversion costs, and accurate billing information.

A purchase is complete only after TabTar receives valid payment confirmation from the provider. A redirect or pending checkout does not by itself create a license.

Refunds are provided where required by applicable law or expressly approved by TabTar. A completed refund, chargeback, or payment dispute may revoke the associated license. Nothing in these Terms limits non-waivable consumer rights.

5. Your content and local data

You retain your rights in the URLs, titles, tags, Clipboard text, and other content that you save in TabTar.

You authorize TabTar to process that content locally as needed to provide requested features. TabTar is not a cloud-backup service. You are responsible for reviewing captured data, maintaining backups, protecting your device, and ensuring that you have the right to store and process the content.

Sensitive-data filtering is a protective measure, not a guarantee that every sensitive value will be detected. Do not save credentials, payment information, confidential data, or other information that you are not authorized to process.

6. User-provided model endpoints

AI Content Organization is optional and runs only when you explicitly start it after configuring a compatible endpoint.

You are responsible for the endpoint, model, API key, charges, data practices, availability, and provider terms. You must have the right to send the selected Context metadata to that provider.

Model-generated categories may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your intended use. Review results before relying on them. TabTar does not control or guarantee third-party model output.

7. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • violate applicable law or another person's rights;
  • access, store, or process information without authorization;
  • bypass trial, activation, licensing, payment, or security controls;
  • probe, disrupt, overload, or abuse TabTar APIs or infrastructure;
  • distribute malware or use TabTar to facilitate fraud, harassment, infringement, or unauthorized access;
  • resell or redistribute TabTar or activation codes; or
  • use a third-party model endpoint in violation of its terms.

We may restrict online features or revoke a license where reasonably necessary to address fraud, abuse, security risks, payment reversals, or legal requirements.

8. Third-party services

TabTar relies on third-party services including Cloudflare, Creem, ZPay, operating-system services, browsers, and endpoints selected by users.

Their products and policies are outside TabTar's control. TabTar is not responsible for third-party outages, rejected payments, changed APIs, model behavior, browser restrictions, or actions taken under third-party terms.

9. Updates and availability

TabTar may offer updates that correct errors, improve security, change features, or maintain compatibility. You are responsible for installing updates when needed.

We do not guarantee that TabTar will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device or website, or available forever. We may change, suspend, or discontinue online features for security, compliance, technical, or operational reasons.

Where reasonably practical, material changes affecting paid functionality will be communicated through the website, App, or support channel.

10. Intellectual property

TabTar and its software, interfaces, branding, documentation, and service design are owned by TabTar or its licensors.

Except as allowed by applicable law, you may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, circumvent protections, rent, sell, sublicense, or distribute TabTar or create a competing service using protected TabTar materials. These Terms do not transfer ownership of TabTar intellectual property to you.

11. Disclaimer

TabTar is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law.

TabTar does not guarantee that captured data is complete, restored information is correct, model-generated categories are accurate, or local data will not be lost. TabTar does not submit forms or execute consequential actions as part of Context restoration.

You remain responsible for reviewing results and maintaining appropriate backups.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TabTar will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of profits, loss of data, business interruption, third-party service failures, or consequences of model output.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TabTar's aggregate liability arising from a purchased license will not exceed the amount you paid for that license. These limitations do not apply where liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

13. Termination

You may stop using TabTar at any time.

TabTar may suspend online services or revoke an activation license if you materially breach these Terms, misuse the Service, create a security risk, reverse or dispute payment, or if applicable law requires action.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limitations, and dispute provisions—will remain effective.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Before filing a formal claim, you and TabTar agree to attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute by contacting service@tabtar.com. Unresolved disputes will be submitted to a court with competent jurisdiction in Beijing, except where applicable consumer law requires otherwise.

15. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to TabTar, providers, pricing, or legal requirements. Updated Terms will be posted with a revised effective date and apply prospectively unless applicable law requires otherwise.

For questions about these Terms, purchases, activation, or TabTar, email service@tabtar.com.
